Fun Easter Fact: The name "Ishtar" is etymologically related to the name "Esther," but it is not related to the English word "Easter." In fact, some scholars suggest that "Ishtar" is the name given to Esther (from the Bible). Her actual Hebrew name was Hadassah (Esther 2:7). The worship of the Mesopotamian goddess Ishtar died out by around 400 years before Christ.
